Pobeda 2 MChZ 2602 Decorated and Dated Movement 4-58

Another Pobeda watch from my collection.

This Pobeda was made by the Second Moscow Watch Factory (2MChZ) in the late 1950s.

Nothing much to look at on the face side.

It is in need of restoration (unlikely, it'll get it), the crystal is cracked and the small seconds hand is missing.

Worth noting that it says 2nd MWF on the dial.

An old-style round case back.

And it seems to be stainless steel.

There is perlage on the inside of the case back.

The movement is finely decorated with Geneva waves.

It is also "dated", i.e. has a date of production - 4-58 - which in this case means 4th quarter of 1958.

Pobedas with dated and decorated movements are the most collectible.

The excellent Pobeda movement with a long history, based on the 1908 LIP R-26.

However it is worth noting that surviving LIP R-26s are neither dated nor decorated, but the Pobeda movements of early vintage (up to the mid-1970s) are.

Decorated movement.

The movement's roots are in the premium European watches of the early 20th century.
